In 1991 he returned to Dublin to the Hitachi Dublin Laboratory. During his time with Hitachi, Eamonn was involved in R&D for scientific and engineering modelling on parallel processing computer systems. Applications ranged from structural analysis to fluid dynamics. In 1993 Eamonn was seconded to Hitachi’s Central Research lab in Tokyo for 9 months. He was appointed head of the Numerical Analysis Group in 1994 and Senior Researcher and Deputy Laboratory Manager in 1998. Eamonn also lectured in Trinity College on High Performance Computing. He completed a part-time Ph.D. in Mathematics in Trinity College, Dublin in 1999. In 1999 Eamonn moved to the Trinity Centre for High Performance Computing in Trinity College as Technical Manager. This was followed by a period with On Star (General Motors) in 2001 in the UK as Computer Systems Manager. In 2003 Eamonn joined Forfás as a Senior Policy Analyst, specialising in the areas of Education, Training and Skills. Eamonn joined the Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser as Senior Research Officer in June 2007.
